Gorilla Race is a free game with a simple premise. You take control of one of four gorillas who must compete to reach the finish line. Before you can do so, you'll need to overcome obstacles. However, in order to overcome obstacles, you'll first need to eat a lot of fruit.

The main characters might suggest a Donkey Kong-like clone, such as Donkey of Kong Emulator, but the gameplay is closer to Fun Fruit Collection Game different Fruits. There is a heavy emphasis on collecting items to beat your rivals.

Eat fruit to get a bigger gorilla

Each stage in Gorilla Race puts you in control of a gorilla who must compete against three rivals. Your ape starts off as a scrawny chimp, so your first job is to bulk him up by eating fruit. Each gorilla has its own fruit (for example, the yellow gorilla only eats bananas), and each bite makes him bigger.

Tackle the obstacle course

Each field of fruit is followed by an obstacle course. Once you've grown your gorilla to King Kong size, your next job is pitting him against the obstacle. This might involve smashing a row of barrels, pushing a giant rock, or sailing a canoe. Regardless, it'll drain your gorilla's strength, so you might need to go back for more fruit.

Crazy cartoon settings

Although the graphics are not especially detailed, Gorilla Race boasts some eye-catching cartoon stylization. There is a fair amount of humor crammed into the game, from the inherent comedy of the size-changing gorilla characters to the wacky obstacle courses. One such course requires you to heft a giant gorilla statue onto a spring.

An easy game

Gorilla Race is not a hard game. Most players should have little trouble overtaking their rivals. Another weakness is that, behind the graphics, the obstacle courses are all essentially the same. Kids might enjoy it.
